Third party JavaScript is in many ways the wild west of the internet -- a vast landscape where anything goes and best practices are (unfortunately) just a suggestion. Dealing with polluted globals, overwritten native API's, woefully unoptimized scripts, unscrupulous CSS rules, and competition for every last resource are just some of the issues you can run into when your code is designed to be integrated into others' websites. With the right tools, however, anyone can become a confident citizen of this lawless landscape and make sure that their code is insulated, self-sufficient, performant, and resistant to even the worst technical contexts the internet can conjure up. Whether you're a front or back end engineer, and whether your code is designed to run on pages you can't control or you're an architect of your own sites, this talk will help you learn how to be a responsible developer and build a better internet.
