Learning how to work with asynchronous operations like API calls and database lookups can be challenging for beginning web developers. Javascript now offers numerous ways to handle asynchronous operations, most notably using callback functions, using promises, or using the newer async/await syntax. This talk will provide an overview of these three approaches, peer under the hood to explain how promises and async/await work, dive into pros/cons of each, and provide some quick examples of how to refactor callback-based code to use these newer methods.
